FIN-DEFCON® Important Disclosures

The information and illustrations provided herein are for educational purposes only. Graphs, charts, formulas, and other devices developed by Steffes Financial, Ltd. should not solely be used as a guide for determining what securities should be bought or sold or when to buy or sell them. Moreover, you should not assume that any discussion or information provided here serves as the receipt of, or as a substitute for, personalized investment advice from Steffes Financial, Ltd. or from any other investment professional.

To the extent that you have any questions regarding the applicability of any specific issue discussed herein to your individual situation, you are encouraged to consult with Steffes Financial, Ltd. or the professional advisor of your choosing. All information has been obtained from sources believed to be reliable. Steffes Financial, Ltd. does not guarantee their reliability and the data contained herein has not been audited or verified by a third-party.

The Financial Defensive Condition (FIN-DEFCON®) strategy utilizes a quantitative approach to dynamic asset allocation that evaluates certain macroeconomic trends including, but not limited to, the Interest Rate Yield Curve on Treasury Bonds, the Leading Economic Index, the Chicago Fed's National Activity Index, Consumer Spending, Employment Trends and price movements of the S&P 500 Index, looking for specific turning points in the business cycle.

FIN-DEFCON® is an economic trend following strategy and is not designed to predict or react to future economic events nor fast-moving events such as stock market corrections, wars, epidemics, pandemics, etc.  Due to its trend following design, the strategy relies on economic data that in many cases is 30 to 60 days delayed. This information does not purport to show the performance results of the FIN-DEFCON® strategy. Instead, this information is intended to briefly summarize and illustrate the research and methodology used to implement the strategy on a future basis. The FIN-DEFCON® strategy is designed to provide investment professionals trend analysis data to facilitate and support investment portfolio recommendations to their clients. The FIN-DEFCON® strategy does not automatically implement changes to client portfolios.

The FIN-DEFCON® strategy started in 2015 and therefore no actual investors participated in the strategy prior to 2015. By its nature, back-tested analysis has the benefit of relying on hindsight and does not reflect the impact that material economic and market factors might have had on decision making if actual clients had been invested in the strategy.

The S&P 500 Index is an unmanaged index and includes a representative sample of large-cap U.S. companies in leading industries. It has been used for analytical purposes only and investors cannot invest directly into the Index. It has been selected because it is a widely known index and representative of the broad U.S. securities market. The FIN-DEFCON® strategy does not try to match or mirror the S&P 500 Index. Therefore, it should not be assumed that account holdings will correspond directly to the S&P 500 Index. The results do not reflect the deduction of transaction and custodial charges, nor the deduction of an investment management fee, the incurrence of which would have the effect of decreasing historical performance results.

Economic information contained herein is historical and should not be construed as an indication of specific future investment performance or positive results. All investment strategies, including the FIN-DEFCON® strategy, have the potential for profit or loss. Different types of investments involve varying degrees of risk, and there can be no assurance that the strategy will be profitable or suitable for your portfolio. There are increased risks associated with investing in global markets such as currency fluctuations, economic and political factors, etc. Investments in smaller company securities may present additional risks such as less predictable earnings, higher volatility, and less liquidity than larger, more established companies. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
